Hi guys! Happy Friday. I’m reporting in to you this evening from my couch, with a glass of wine in hand and all three of my creatures snoozing peacefully right beside me (heaven, right?). Maybe it’s the 12 hour work day I just wrapped up, or maybe it’s the fact that my mind is still racing 1000 miles an hour… but either way, I’m inspired and have the motivation to somehow sit here and write this post. So here goes.
I’ve been really trying to put myself out there lately. I’ve been going to blogger events, seeking out fun and interesting Miami things to do, spending more time working remotely in cool places, and just trying talk to more people on a daily basis. I love learning about people and what they do. I am constantly on the hunt for inspiration and new ideas, and in return I love to share all of this information with my friends. One question that tends to come up often as I’m sharing my current life story however is, how do I manage it all? Well, let me break it down for you.
I’ve always been a mover. Even as a kid, you can ask my mom. I never took naps, I always stayed up late and woke up early. I pile my plate as high as possible as often as possible. I’ve lived in 10 cities, in 4 different states. I currently work full time at a Digital Marketing Agency in Miami, run two ecommerce businesses, freelance with marketing and design, and write a food blog. I’m also raising a 1 year old black lab / pittbull mix who I love more than life itself. I try to get to the beach at least twice a week, I work out as much as possible, and I try to eat an army’s share of fruits and veggies every day. It’s been brought to my attention lately that I do an impossibly large amount of things on a daily basis, but you know what? I enjoy it. This leads me to the inspiration behind this post and the title… you really have to want it.
It seems complicated, but it’s not. You do really just have to want it. I want to work for myself one day. I want to be healthy. I want to raise a fun, energetic and loving dog. I want to meet people, travel places, eat amazing food, and document every piece of it. It’s just who I am. And you know what? It’s who you can be as well. Time management, getting good sleep at night, surrounding yourself with good people.. these are all things that make life better. Even the little things that you’ve been told your entire life, drink more water, get some exercise every day even if it’s just 15 mins, smile. These are all things that help me achieve the mass amount of things I set in my sights every day. Another big thing? Collaboration. Reach out to people. Never be afraid to ask questions. I can’t tell you how many times amazing opportunities have come my way because I manned up and asked to take part. Are we all engrained with this type of attitude? No way. I learned all of this from friends, family, and random people who have come in and out of my life over the years.
I guess there’s not a true moral or goal of this blog post, but I figure the more I put vibes like this out there, the more will come back my way in return. The most important thing? Just be happy. If something doesn’t make you happy or better you in some way, move on. As hard as that may be, just move on. I’ve left behind a lot of places and people in my life. I’ve made the hard decision over and over again to put myself first. But you know what? The people who stick around end up benefiting from it because I in return can be a better friend to them. Same goes with my family.
You can live any type of life you want and you do have the ability to make it happen. When you start to treat your life like a job, things get done. I know that sounds terrible at first, but think about it this way. When you go to work everyday, you do everything and anything in order to get your job done. Why not apply that same attitude to your life? If you want to travel, save $25 out of your paycheck every week until you have enough. If you want to work for yourself, sit down and make a business plan. Figure out how to make it happen. Treat others well, share knowledge, be helpful.
Believe me…. you can do it! You just have to want it.
