Hi guys, happy December! I am definitely a bit late to the game in terms of holiday planning, but luckily I was able to throw my party shoes on and get things together to create a nice holiday spread for my friends and family last weekend. For our selection we decide to go more french this year and choose a selection of George Duboeuf and Légende wines along with some incredible Ile de France cheese. It was nice to branch outside our normal California comfort zone and we found all of these french wines and cheeses to be extremely delightful!
The Wine:
George Duboeuf Beaujolais-Villages 2015
Georges Duboeuf Pouilly-Fuissé 2015
Légende Rouge 2026
Légende Blanc 2016
The Cheese:
Saint André
St. Agur
Ile De France Brie
ILE DE FRANCE PLAIN GOAT CHEESE Ile De France Goat Cheese
So here’s a little about the brands! Les Vins Georges Duboeuf is a family-owned winery in the heart of the Beaujolais region of France. The Beaujolais-Villages was smooth and had such a nice rich flavor, and the Pouilly-Fuissé was crisp and was the perfect accent to go with the french cheese. The Légende Rouge and Blanc come from Bordeaux region of France and next time you find yourself in a Total Wine or similar store, I would definitely suggest finding your way over to that section.
A few cheese board tips – Regardless of the wine and cheese selection, you should make sure to have a few accents on your board as well. These amazing wines all paired so well with our cheeses, that we only chose to put a few extra things (blue berries, crackers, grapes and a few stray Christmas cookies) there for added flavor.
Overall I had such a fun time learning about these French products and I’ll definitely say my interest has spiked for this area of the world. The best part? You can find all of them all locally to you. Between Publix, Albertsons or Trader Joes, you should be covered!
