Strawberry Shortcake + Cultivar Rose

Happy Wednesday Wine Lovers! I’m back today with the help from Cultivar Wine to share another fun recipe post with you. During the long summer months there’s nothing better than a great Sunday dessert, and what better way to showcase this next bottle of wine than with a classic Strawberry Shortcake! I paired this fresh dessert with a Cultivar Rose Wine that I will definitely say, re-instiled my love for rose wine in general. The strawberry and cranberry notes in this wine really complimented the fresh fruit flavors and homemade whip cream. Checkout the recipe below!

What You’ll Need:
Bisquick Mix
Milk
Butter
Fresh Strawberries
Lemons
Granulated Sugar
Olive Oil
Confectionary Sugar
Heavy Whipping Cream
Vanilla Extract

Start this project off with your strawberry mix. The longer you give the berries to macerate the better they turn out. Chop up about 2 quarts of fresh strawberries, mix them with about 1/4 cup granulated sugar, some lemon zest and a few tsp’s of olive oil. I find that a glass bowl works best for this step.

Next I went with the classic Bisquick Box Strawberry Shortcake recipe. It’s one of the easiest (and fastest) recipes and great to have on hand for those afternoon sugar cravings! Whip up the bisquick mix, milk and butter together and roll 6-7 balls of dough out onto a well greased cookie sheet. Cook the biscuits for about 10-12 mins or until they’re a nice golden brown.

Lastly for the homemade whip cream (my favorite part) in a chilled glass bowl mix a pint of heavy whipping cream with 1/4 cup of confectionary sugar and a few tsp’s of vanilla extract. This part is a labor of love, you’ll need to whip the cream mix for about 5-10 mins consistently in order for the whip cream to form. Don’t get discourage, it will happen! Just whip whip whip and you’ll get a glorious mixture that’ll make you never want to buy whip cream from the store again. To serve chop one of your yummy shortcake biscuits in half, sandwich it with some of your strawberry mix (and any syrup that you can pour out of the berry mix) and some of your whip cream on top! I finished off this classic dessert with a glass of Cultivar Rose Wine.
