Happy Thursday guys! Earlier this week I had the pleasure of joining the Tommy Bahama Family at their famous Las Vegas Restaurant & Bar. With the largest rum collection on the west coast and a dinner and tasting planned, we knew this was going to be a great evening! The night started off with a tour of the Tommy Bahama store (gorgeous) and a blind tasting, where we were asked to try out 5 different rums and match them up with a list of corresponding regions and flavor profiles. I had never tasted rum in this capacity before and was beyond impressed! After the tasting we sat down for a fantastic four course meal with each dish paired up with a signature rum cocktail.
Appetizer – Saffron & Sherry Cask Rum Infused Sea Scallops w/ warm brussel sprout & freutcake bacon salad, pepitas, charred scallions, sweet soy & pumpkin oil vinaigrette + Thai Mojito
Intermezzo – Caramelized Pineapple & Meyer Lemon Granita
Entree – Petite Filet Mignon & Garlic Ginger Grilled Prawns w/ a root vegetable hash, butter-braised chinese longbeans, port rum maitake demi-glace, hibiscus beurre blanc + Cruzan Black Strap Porto
Dessert – Brioche Chocolate Bread Pudding w/ raspberry creme anglaise, blueberry preserve and candied orange + The Diplomat
The whole experience was one of the best I’ve had here in Las Vegas. The staff was incredibly welcoming, the service was outstanding and the food was definitely memorable. I can’t wait to head back for both happy hour and dinner (which I’ve heard great things about) and to try out more of their rum selection. A big thanks goes out to the entire Tommy Bahama Crew and Chef John for having us out for such a wonderful evening!
