About 150 miles out into the Atlantic Ocean down past Miami lies one of my favorite places on earth… Key West, Florida. It’s a city built at the very end of a chain of islands, connected only by channels and bridges. It is a vibrant, artistic and incredibly fun city where everybody loves to party and eat great food! On this years’s annual Mitchell Key West visit, we made several stops including a great dinner at Fogarty’s on Duval Street. Duval has something to offer everybody that visits, but Fogarty’s really is our favorite spot because you can eat a great meal, sip on some awesome frozen drinks, and people watch all night!
Our 2013 Menu:
Tex-Mex Rolls – Chili Dusted Grilled Chicken, Roasted Corn, Black Beans, Cilantro, Peppers, Onions, Jalapenos, and Cheddar & Jack Cheeses in a Golden Brown Egg Roll
Fogarty’s Fish Sandwich – Fried Golden Brown Filet, served with Lettuce, Tomato, & Tartar Sauce
Duval Club – Smoked Turkey, Ham, Swiss Cheese, Crisp Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, & Mayonnaise on Toasted Whole Wheat
Smokey Joe’s Ribs – Slow roasted Baby Back Pork Ribs with sweet and smoky BBQ Sauce, Mashed Potatoes, Onion Strings & Cole Slaw
Classic Key Lime Pie – One of the best in Key West!
We had eaten a really extravagant dinner the evening before, so our mission this evening was to eat some classic comfort food. The sandwiches were to die for – especially the fish sandwich (be prepared for a HUGE serving if you order this)! The other highlight of course being the Key Lime Pie. There’s absolutely no way you can visit this city and not eat a piece (or three). Fogarty’s definitely holds their own when it comes to the stiff competition of key lime pie selections down here. So next time you find yourself down here at mile 0, make sure to stop by!
*P.S. A special thanks to the super friendly manager who gave us some great tips on the Ghosts & Gravestones tour – also definitely worth the time to check out!!
