Fabiolus Cucina, Los Angeles

Despite only being in LA for a total of 30 hours last week, we managed to squeeze in some really great food. The next stop after BAO Dim Sum House was a pre-theater meal at Fabiolus Cucina, right down on good old on Sunset Blvd. We were heading to see American Idiot at the Pantages Theater so this was a perfect place for us to kick off the evening. The restaurant is small, but they have a fantastic garden patio (covered) which is nice for those warm evening meals. The atmosphere is mellow and the staff was extremely friendly. I would definitely put it up high on my list of authentic italian meals. Checkout what we had below!

Our Menu:

Burrata – burrata cheese, roasted tomatoes, wild arugola, basil pesto

Calamaretti – crispy calamari, housemade tomato sauce

Gnocchi ai Quattro Formaggi – potato gnocchi, grana padano, asiago, gorgonzola, fontina cheese sauce

Malcesine (pizza) – tomato, eggplant, spinach, asparagus, ricotta cheese, grana padano

We kicked off the meal with a bottle of wine and some out of this world pesto. The rest of the dishes came out quickly, which surprised me because the whole place was packed. I will say that everything we had was great, but the homerun for me was the gnocchi and the burrata. Those are two of my favorite things and they really nailed both of them! The pizza was nice and crispy and the calamari is also something I would order again. If you find yourself in this area anytime soon, definitely stop by for a visit!
