It’s Monday and I’m back with another jam packed weekend report. We kicked off the weekend in true local form with a show at the Las Vegas Country Saloon, then spent Saturday sipping away at the Great Vegas Festival of Beer. After recovering from the previous 48 hours, we made our way down to MTO Cafe for their second Sunday Night Supper – El Chapos Cantina! Going to these suppers in a group is the best way to do it. We ordered just about everything on the menu between the 4 of us and got to try a little bit of each thing. My favorites this time around were Johnny Church’s Porkbelly Chorizo and James Trees Chivo Tostada. Not to mention Heidi Koval’s killer desserts, which I couldn’t pick a favorite if I tried.
Growing up in Vermont and spending the majority of my 20’s in San Francisco, I was really nervous about moving to Las Vegas last fall. I was worried that I would really miss the small local vibes and farm fresh meals that both my previous homes are well known for. But luckily I discovered MTO Cafe (along with a few other gems) and definitely don’t feel that way anymore. I’ve eaten at MTO more times than I care to admit at this point, but have never left disappointed. Their Sunday Night Supper Series is just one more reason to fall in love with these guys.
