Happy Friday guys! Las Vegas has officially stolen my heart when it comes to the local food community. From MTO Cafe’s Sunday Night Suppers to Honey Salt’s Farm Table Dinners, I’ve tried so many amazing dishes and met so many great people. If you’ve been following my food journey here on Avec Mallory you already know what a huge Honey Salt fan I am, so I was especially excited to be part of their second Farm Table dinner this past Monday! The best part about the night was that it happened to fall right on St. Patricks Day so the menu was extra exciting. Much like MTO, the chefs and staff were welcoming and made everybody feel right at home, and each course came out they talked about the local aspect of each dish which I thought was very cool. Here’s a look at the menu!
Vegetable Crudite & Dirty Vegan Juice – sweet & sour eggplant, spicy pepper & ricotta cheese
Farmer Patrick’s Salad – desert meadow greens, spinach, six month aged manchego, pine nuts, dried cherries
Irish Rose Soda Bread & Honey Butter
Ale Braised Lamb Shank – roasted parsnip & rutabaga, savory brown butter
Cabbage Wrapped Corned Beef Purse – caraway, cabbage, grain-mustard sauce
Colcannon – gratin of mashed potatoes, leeks, carrots
Slow Baked Rice Pudding – madagascar vanilla bean, golden rasins
Beer Pairing – Lost Coast, Eureka CA
The highlights for me were the veggie juice, corned beef, and soda bread. I was so excited to eat an actual Irish meal for St. Paddy’s this year! The Farm Table meals are also unique because unlike any normal night at HS, you sit at a communal dining room table with the other guests. I really loved this aspect and we ended up having some very interesting table mates. I would definitely recommend trying out one of these dinners if you get a chance. They will be held every other Monday night at Honey Salt and all you have to do is call for a reservation a few days before!
